Dámske silonky a pančuchy sa skratkou DEN sa označovala jemnosť a hmotnosť hodvábu, z ktorého sa moderný a módny pančuchový tovar vyrábal. Ten sa síce už vyrába zo silonového vlákna, ale skratka sa uchytila a používa sa dodnes. Znamená to, že kolko je gramov vlákna na dĺžku 1000 metrov.
V zásade platí : čím nižšie číslo, tým tenšie a priesvitnejšie silonky. A čím je číslo väčšie, tým sú pančuchy s vysokým pásom pevnejšie, hrubšie a teplejšie.
V zime a na jeseň si preto vyberte kľudne 40 DEN, 60 až 100 DEN a viac, ale v lete a na jar siahnite skôr po 7 až 15 DEN, alebo 20 DEN, podľa spoločenskej udalosti, ples, svadba, alebo účelu Vašeho použitia.
